Execution for Playing squid: the media reported on the severe punishment of students for watching a popular TV series in the DPRK
In North Korea, a smuggler who was transporting copies of the series The Squid Game was detained and sentenced to death by firing squad.

The smuggler, who was transporting copies of the series "The Squid Game" on USB devices and SD cards, of course understood that his actions were a violation of the law prohibiting the distribution of any media materials from capitalist countries, including South Korea.

According to Radio Free Asia, citing a law enforcement source in the North Korean province of Hamgyong, the smuggler was not the only one who will be severely punished for possession of prohibited materials.

The media write that a student who brought a USB drive to an educational institution with the series "The Squid Game" recorded on it was sentenced to life imprisonment, and six other students who watched the popular series were sentenced to hard labor. Teachers who allegedly committed such a gross violation of the law also got it. They were dismissed and now have every chance to go to forced labor in the mines.

It is reported that the seven arrested will be thoroughly interrogated in order to find other owners of copies with a "forbidden".
