The third part of the action movie The Equalizer starring Denzel Washington has been launched into development.

The third part of the action movie "The Equalizer" has been launched into development. Denzel Washington said this in a conversation with the publication Colider. The actor himself will return to the main role.

"They wrote the third 'Equalizer,' so I'm going to do it [again]," Washington told Collider in an interview. "I need to get in shape and start beating people up again. I'm going to beat everyone up again. First the tragedy of Macbeth, and then the bruising. What could be better?".

"The Equalizer" is based on the television series of the same name in the 80s and tells about Robert McCall, a man with a mysterious past who was once a marine and faked his own death to start life over again, but eventually uses his skills to protect a young prostitute in the first part and sets out to avenge the death of a friend and former colleague in the sequel. Both films were directed by Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day", "Shooter").

It has not yet been confirmed whether Fuqua will return to filming the third part, however, according to Collider sources, the director is already in talks with the studio. In addition, the publication expects that the triquel "The Equalizer" will be the director's next film after the upcoming "Emancipation" with Will Smith for Apple TV+.
