Media: the Xbox Series X is much quieter than the PS4 Pro, but has the feature of getting very hot

The test results showed that when surfing the dashboard, the Series X makes noise at the level of 22-26 decibels, which at a distance of one meter is completely drowned out by background sounds in the room and is not perceived by ear in any way. When running Destiny 2, the console noise increased to just 26-31 decibels, with the range of values almost always remaining constant, unlike the PS4 Pro, which indicates effective heat dissipation.

For comparison, in the same game, the PlayStation 4 Pro was much louder - in most scenarios, the console gave out from 63 to 69 decibels. Somewhere, such as in the social space, the noise was reduced to 58-63 dB, and in some situations it increased as much as 71 dB.

However, it is important to understand that this is not universal data. The noise level values strongly depend on external factors, but the difference between different devices in General should be more or less the same everywhere.

Last week, the network published preliminary reviews of the Xbox Series X. journalists praise the new Microsoft console for the quietness of the cooling system, but some were surprised at how much heat the system emits as a result. This, in particular, was told by journalist Ken Bogard from Jeux Video on the French channel LeStream:

"Series X is hot, really hot! It doesn't make any noise, but damn it, it's hot! The console radiates heat like crazy. It's like a chimney shaft. It can heat the entire apartment."

He added that this heating was observed only in backward-compatible games and while navigating the menu, since now the press does not have access to optimized titles for the Xbox Series X.

The second person who also spoke about the strong heating of the Xbox Series X was the co-host of the podcast The Giant Beastcast, Jeff bakalar, who noted that his console emits a significant amount of heat even in standby mode. He even burned his hand a little when he reached for the external memory card, but stressed that this is not the final sample of the device.

"It looks like while you're not using it, this thing is doing something that it has to remove heat."

Meanwhile, the launch of the Xbox Series X and S is just over a month away. Both consoles will launch on November 10.
