PlayStation 5 - sony broke the silence and revealed all the cards: details of backward compatibility of PS5 with PS4
Sony has revealed all the details of the backward compatibility of PS5 with PS4.

The company, in particular, announced projects that are not supported by the new console. At the moment, there are ten of them, but it is not specified whether this is the final list or not. In the PS Store, such projects will receive a mark indicating that they can only be played on PS4.

  • DWVR
  • Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Volume One
  • TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 2
  • Just Deal With It!
  • Shadow Complex: Remastered
  • Robinson: The Journey
  • We Sing
  • Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
  • Shadwen
  • Joe's Diner

The vast majority of the more than four thousand games for PS4 will run on the PlayStation 5, and some of them will get improved performance thanks to the Game Boost function. At the same time, Sony warns that some of the functions may not work in some projects, as well as errors may occur during operation. In this regard, the company recommends always updating the PS5 system firmware to the latest version, as well as testing backward-compatible titles before buying add-ons for them.

What features from PS4 won't work on PlayStation 5:

  • share Menu. Instead, the new Create menu is used to create screenshots and video clips;
  • tournament system;
  • In-game broadcasts;
  • second screen and other companion apps.

What else you need to know:

  • Backward compatibility works with both digital and disk versions of games. In the latter case you may need to download an update;
  • PS4 game discs cannot be used with the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition;
  • Backward-compatible games for PS4 will support DualSense, DualShock 4, PS Move, PlayStation VR Aim Controller, as well as third-party gamepads and other peripherals, such as steering wheels and joysticks, officially licensed by PlayStation;
  • DualShock 4 cannot be used in PlayStation 5 games;
  • The new HD camera is not compatible with PS4 games. To do this, you need to connect the starting PlayStation Camera via a special adapter;
  • The HDR option is automatically enabled on the PS5, but can be disabled via settings;
  • Platinum and Gold wireless headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via a USB port or audio Jack, are supported on the PS5, but there will be no companion app for them.
