New World has become the largest launch on Steam in 2021 and has entered the top in history, but it cannot cope with the influx of players

• No game that started in 2021 had a better result. The previous record holder this year is Valheim with 502,000 people at its peak.
• Online at the time of release for the entire history of Steam, only Cyberpunk 2077 (1,308,000 people) and PUBG (2,913,000 people) turned out to be cooler than New World. To be fair, PUBG managed to unwind by the time of its release with the help of early access.
• If we take not only the release, but the values of online on Steam at any time, then New World is in fifth place. Considering this condition, in addition to Cyberpunk 2077 and PUBG, the game from Amazon is also overtaken by CS:GO (1,309,000 people) and Dota 2 (1,295,000 people).

But New World's user ratings have sunk a lot in a day: if at the beginning they were positive, now they have fallen to mixed - 51% at the time of writing the news.

They say New World has something to find fault with on the gameplay and technical part, but the top reviews now have the most complaints about queues — thousands of people are sitting in them, and the waiting time is several hours. According to the calculations of the unofficial website, the queue for the most popular servers at the moment can be up to 28 hours. There are other worlds where there are no queues, but many people want to get to where the most active people will settle — this is an MMO, social interaction is important in it!

Amazon Games acknowledged the problem and said it was trying to increase the capacity of the network infrastructure. As compensation, in the next two weeks, players will be able to change their character's server at no additional cost.
