Valheim is becoming one of the most popular survival games on Steam
Valheim is a new Viking-inspired game that claims to be the most popular survivor on Steam, developed by Iron Gate and Coffee Stain. Just a week after launching in Early Access, it already collects over a hundred thousand players simultaneously.
Valheim is the tenth world of the Vikings, where you have to defeat the ancient enemies of Odin and bring peace to these lands. This world is filled with the creatures of chaos, mythical creatures, endless forests, mountains and oceans. But the gods bless the brave and shower them with glory.
Valheim's gameplay is reminiscent of a familiar survival game. You have to settle in a procedurally generated world, build settlements, craft weapons, armor and other things, as well as build ships and look for exotic islands in the ocean. You will be resisted by creatures from legends, the combat system is built on blocks and dodges.
Valheim is designed for cooperative PvE up to 10 people, although the developers recommend playing with a company of three to five people. Servers can be either independent and run on users' computers, or dedicated, created on a special hosting and constantly online.
Early Access is expected to last for about a year. Over time, Valheim will add more enemies, bosses and materials, expand the crafting system and introduce additional types of weapons. The game is now over 50% complete.
Valheim received 96% positive ratings based on 12,500 reviews on Steam and came in at # 1 on the sales charts with over 100,000 concurrent online users.
Valheim is currently only available on Steam.
