Sony has patented the mechanics of changing the landscape of Death Stranding by Hideo Kojima
Sony has received the approval of the patent commission for the technology of player interaction in a virtual environment.
The application was submitted in 2019 and approved on December 7 of this year. The document mentions Hideo Kojima as the inventor. The technology is described as "exploring the terrain with a gradual construction of a route in a video game."
Thanks to the patented solution, online players can directly influence the landscape of single-player worlds that are downloaded locally through a "cloud gaming system".
In short, it describes a way to build a location based on the passage of a certain path by many players along the same route.
The connection with Death Stranding is understandable, since the creation of Kojima Production allowed users to build bridges, follow the beaten path and leave useful items for other players.
In August, Norman Reedus hinted that a sequel to Death Stranding is in development.
