Bethesda Softworks has announced the availability of a free next-gen update for the Quake reissue released in August.

Users who have previously purchased a re-release of the iconic shooter on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 can download a patch with improvements for a new generation of consoles within the same family of platforms for free.

The updated Quake now runs on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 at 120 frames per second in 4K resolution, and the Sony console version also received support for adaptive DualSense triggers and a built-in controller speaker.

  • On Xbox, the game also supports the transfer of saves and Smart Delivery technology, thanks to which the best version will be automatically installed on the console.
  • In the case of PlayStation, the PS5 version must be downloaded separately via the game center or the PS Store page. When updating the game, the passage will have to start anew.

On PC, the reissue initially supported 4K/120 FPS with the appropriate hardware. The shooter is also available on Switch, but has not received any additional improvements.
