Black Panther director to take on series for Disney+, starting with Wakanda show

Director and screenwriter Ryan Coogler will soon begin filming the Black Panther sequel. Due to the death of Chadwick Boseman, Marvel and Disney had to pull T'Challa from the story.

His successor, as in the comics, will be little sister Shuri (Leticia Wright, “Black Mirror”). Meanwhile, Deadline reported the signing of an exclusive five-year contract between Disney and Coogler's Proximity Media, which will handle series for the Disney+ streaming service.

One of them will focus on Wakanda, the most technologically advanced country in the world, hidden in the wilds of Africa, and home of the Black Panther. Whether Coogler will take the director's chair or be limited to producing, it is not reported.

“Black Panther 2” will be released July 7, 2022.
